Historic St. Louis Cemetery Looking For Volunteers

The caretakers of one of the oldest black cemeteries in St. Louis are hoping to get 300 people to converge on the property in North County tomorrow to help with the ongoing restoration efforts.

The Friends of Greenwood Cemetery Association does these clean-up days several times a year, and historian Etta Daniels says they've helped clear about half of the 32-acre cemetery in the last 13 years. This year, they'll tackle a 10-12 acre section that needs some TLC.

Accident Involving School Bus Shuts Down I-55 Southbound

An accident involving a school bus has shut down traffic on southbound I-55 this morning just south of downtown St. Louis at 7th Street.

Traffic is currently backed up all the way into Illinois. (See here for the latest traffic conditions).

Legal issues are never far from the headlines and in many cases, they are the headlines.

The Missouri Legislature recently ended its session and passed some bills worth considering from a legal perspective. One bill bars the implementation of Agenda 21, a non-binding United Nations plan which promotes sustainable development. Another would bar Sharia law in Missouri.

Host Don Marsh talked with a panel of legal experts to explain those issues and more.

New Relief Effort #STL4OKC Launches To Help Tornado Victims

The city of St. Louis is partnering with the American Red Cross, St. Louis Rams Quarterback Sam Bradford, and Switch Contemporary to help Oklahoma City in a disaster relief effort they are calling #STL4OKC.

Its focus is on raising funds and collecting donations for victims of Monday's tornado in Oklahoma City. The initiative kicked off with a launch Wednesday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

Bradford, an Oklahoma native, expressed deep gratitude on behalf of his home state:

The St. Louis Initiative to Reduce Violence is a new effort for both the city and county to prevent wrongdoing in its tracks by starting at the source – neighborhoods and communities. The grassroots effort is incorporating a partnership of police officers and community leaders to curb wrongdoing by creating a more approachable relationship among youth and families.
