Roosevelt High Students Recognized By State Treasurer For Financial Literacy Course Completion

Students at Roosevelt High School were recognized for their participation in the Regional Bank Financial Scholars program. The students completed a web course that taught the basics of money management, and received certificates in an assembly that included remarks made by State Treasurer Clint Zweifel.

Zweifel, who hails from North County, feels that the program helps to not only lay a financial foundation for the present, but also teaches the benefits of making good choices for the future:

A bipartisan group of Missouri leaders is trying to put pressure on Congress to address the national debt – and says tens of thousands of Missouri jobs are at stake.

The group, “Fix the Debt Missouri,” joins a larger national group of political and business leaders urging bipartisanship in Washington – as the so-called “fiscal cliff” looms.

State Representative Cole McNary criticized the State Treasurer's handling of Missouri's pensions Tuesday. McNary is the Republican candidate for the office that is currently held by Democrat Clint Zweifel.

McNary outlined problems he sees with the Missouri State Employees Retirement System: He says there are underfunded pensions, naively optimistic forecasts for returns and a debt that will be a burden on taxpayers.

Barnes-Jewish could lose millions in Medicare payments

One of Missouri's largest hospitals could face a cut in Medicare payments because too many Medicare patients are being readmitted soon after discharge.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Barnes-Jewish is one of just three hospitals in the country to perform worse than the national average in readmissions within 30 days for heart attacks, heart failure and pneumonia, for each of the last three years.
