Arlington http://news.stlpublicradio.org en Arlington Grove Development Providing Much-Needed Housing In North City http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/arlington-grove-development-providing-much-needed-housing-north-city <p>A historic St. Louis School building has a new lease on life as a new development in north city’s 22<sup>nd</sup> Ward.</p><p>The Arlington School, designed by pioneering St. Louis Architect William Ittner was built in 1898.&nbsp; The school was closed in 1994 and fell into extreme disrepair.&nbsp; I filed a <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103329943">story for NPR</a> in 2009 about ten of Ittner's schools, including Arlington, which were facing uncertain futures.</p> Fri, 12 Oct 2012 23:50:55 +0000 Adam Allington 5344 at http://news.stlpublicradio.org Arlington Grove Development Providing Much-Needed Housing In North City McCaskill and Blunt give updates on veterans issues http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/mccaskill-and-blunt-give-updates-veterans-issues <p>Sen.&nbsp;Claire McCaskill, (D-Mo.)&nbsp;says she&rsquo;s cautiously optimistic that management problems at Arlington National Cemetery have been solved.</p><p>The democratic senator visited the cemetery on Friday to assess changes made there following the revelation that thousands of graves were mislabeled or unmarked.</p><p>McCaskill co-sponsored a law that requires congressional oversight of the burial grounds, and requires cemetery officials to submit a grave site analysis.
