Cilantro recalled for possible salmonella risk

A California-based produce wholesaler is recalling more than 6,000 cartons of cilantro - including some distributed in Missouri - after a sample of the product tested positive for Salmonella.

The company says the Food and Drug Administration found the positive result at the distributor level, but the source of contamination is unknown. There are no reported illnesses.

Artificial trans fats might be escorted out of Illinois after House lawmakers passed a bill banning them in restaurants, school vending machines and other venues statewide, according to the Post Dispatch.

The bill, if passed in the Senate, would take effect Jan. 1, 2013.
