The Missouri Gaming Association told regulators Wednesday that it is trying hard to keep underage patrons from getting into the state’s casinos.

Mike Winter, the association's Executive Director, told state gaming commission members that the use of fake ID's is the most common way minors try to get in – but there have also been cases where they tried to climb over walls, blend in with crowds, and in a few cases, sneak in with the help of their parents. Barrett Hatches is chairman of the Missouri Gaming Commission.

Casino fees to be redirected from early childhood programs to Mo. veterans homes

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has signed legislation redirecting casino fees to nursing homes for military veterans.

The legislation signed into law Wednesday provides a dedicated funding stream for the state's seven nursing homes that serve about 1,300 veterans.

Casinos already pay a per-person fee to the state. Most of that money has gone to early childhood programs. But the new law redirects the bulk of those fees to veterans homes.

A former city manager for the St. Louis suburb of Brentwood has been banned from entering any casino in Missouri.

For the first time since it was implemented in 1996, gamblers in Missouri now have a way to remove themselves from the state's voluntary casino exclusion list.

The Missouri Gaming Commission today made forms available to start the removal from the "disassociated persons" list. Any gambler who's been on the list for five years is eligible.

Quinn opposes slot machines at racetracks

Gov. Pat Quinn says he doesn't support slot machines at Illinois racetracks.

Quinn on Monday discussed his objections to a gambling bill passed by lawmakers but not yet sent to him.

Quinn laid out a framework for gambling expansion that includes five new casinos in Chicago, southern Cook County, Lake County, Rockford and Danville.

He says the Illinois Gaming Board should choose the location in Lake County and not the Park City location passed by lawmakers.

Quinn also says he opposes slot machines at Chicago's O'Hare or Midway airports.
