Jefferson City, MO – The attorney for an inmate who's about to go free says he's not happy about a move that could complicate his client's release.
Cole County Prosecutor Bill Tackett wants DNA tests that he says could determine whether he'll retry Joseph Amrine. The Missouri Supreme Court recently ordered Amrine free after overturning his conviction and death sentence.
The tests could take 90 days to collect, but Amrine is scheduled to be released in about a week.
St. Louis, MO – The Archdiocese of St. Louis today issued a revised policy for dealing with sexual abuse. The revisions bring the policy in line with what both the Vatican and the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops say on the issue.
Blandville, KY – Geological experts say a four-point-five magnitude earthquake in Kentucky this morning could be felt as far away as the St. Louis area. The quake hit shortly before 7:30 a-m near Blandville, Kentucky, about ten miles from the Missouri border. No one was injured and sheriff's dispatchers in southeast Missouri had no reports of earthquakes or damage in the region this morning.
