St. Louis, Mo – As candidates in St. Louis city make their final push for votes in Tuesday's primary election, Mayor Francis Slay says he doesn't anticipate problems in running polls or counting votes.
The mayor also says he expects a lower turnout tomorrow because all the races are local; of the 20 contests on the ballot, only eight feature more than one candidate.
St. Louis, MO – The city of St. Louis' black history celebration today turned into a debate between Alderman Irving Clay and Mayor Francis Slay over racial politics.
Clay, who emceed the annual event, accused Slay of unfairly firing black city workers and targeting Comptroller Darlene Green, who is also African-American. The Mayor then took the podium and said he was disappointed by the allegations, calling them "baseless."
