Jefferson City, MO – A group that lobbies for Missouri Counties plans to sue Governor Bob Holden over budget cuts it says violate state law.
The Missouri Association of Counties says lawmakers violated the Hancock Amendment last year when they cut about $2 millionfrom the money paid to county assessors, as well as several million more for reimbursing the cost of housing inmates.
St. Louis, MO – Shortly after the plan took off, a passenger complained of eye irritation. But three people who say they were passengers on the flight say that after security guards escorted a man off the plane, smoke began billowing from behind where the man had been sitting. They say security guards then removed a man with a backpack who was sitting at the back of the plane. The three say the plane finally took off after the remaining passengers were taken off the plane and checked in again. Officials say they can't confirm that.
St. Louis, MO – Registered nurse Joe Sanders says making the profession more attractive and offering better benefits would attract younger workers and help retain senior nurses. The National Labor Relations Board is expected to decide this month whether the union would include just those who work at St. Louis Children's Hospital or if it should include nurses at satellite offices. Once that decision is made, the nurses will vote on whether they want to join the United American Nurses.
