St. Louis, MO – Indianapolis-based Hunt Construction Group will build the Cardinals' new stadium.
The team made the announcement yesterday, citing the company's experience with building eight of the last eleven big-league ballparks.
None of the other contractors under consideration was St. Louis-based, but Cardinals President Mark Lamping says sub-contractors will do much of the work, which will let St. Louis companies participate.
Other ballparks Hunt Construction has been involved with include:
Granite City, Illinois – Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says election victories by Republicans do not bode well for a toxic waste site in Granite City.
The site where the Jennison-Wright company used to treat railroad ties has been on the federal Superfund list since 1996. That means its in line to get money polluters used to pay to help clean up the sites.
St. Louis, MO – Some St. Louis area lawmakers want to extend the protection the state offers people with its popular No Call list to e-mail users. Democratic senator Wayne Goode and Republican Representative Carl Bearden will introduce legislation to create a so-called no spam list that would prevent e-mail users from receiving unsolicited commercial messages. If approved, Missouri would be among the first states in the nation to have this type of system. Senator Goode says both individuals and businesses would be eligible.
