St. Louis – Motorists who are used to traffic headaches between St. Louis and St. Charles Counties now have another option. The Page Avenue extension, or Highway 364, faced its first rush hours tests Monday.
Officials say the first day of traffic on the Veterans Memorial Bridge was a success.
The $348 million project is expected to relieve congestion on the other bridges over the Missouri River.
But Linda Wilson, with the state Department of Transportation, said it's only phase one.
Springfield, Ill – Illinois governor rod Blagojevich says he may veto legislation that is designed to bring more money to the state's hospitals.
The legislation increases taxes on hospitals, with that money generating more federal matching money.
In the end, hospitals would get more money than they pay in taxes. However, the governor says some of the money would go to nursing homes and adds he does not like the fact that about $70 million is not earmarked for any program.
