Fired contractor blamed in Eagleton courthouse soaking

A contractor fired at the federal courthouse in St. Louis a decade ago is blamed for installing a misaligned pipe that broke and flooded many floors.

But the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that a General Services Administration official says there is no way to seek reimbursement from the contractor, Morse Diesel.

The pipe break in August spewed up to 8,000 gallons of water at the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse. Damage could reach millions of dollars.

Express Scripts sues Walgreen in contract dispute

The interior of Express Scripts in St. Louis. Express Scripts has filed a lawsuit against Walgreen Co.

St. Louis-based pharmacy benefits manager Express Scripts Inc. said Wednesday that it is suing Walgreen Co., arguing the drugstore chain is trying to lure away its customers.

The lawsuit alleges that Walgreen is telling Express Scripts plan members, and especially Medicare Part D beneficiaries, that they will not be able to fill their prescriptions at Walgreen pharmacies unless they leave Express Scripts and switch to a new pharmacy benefits management plan. Express Scripts said this violates the contract between the two companies.

Months following twister, Joplin death toll rises by 2

An American flag and foundations from homes are all that remains in a neighborhood in Joplin, Missouri on August 15, 2011. A tornado on May 22, 2011 claimed 162 lives - the latest two of which were announced Wednesday.

The death toll from Joplin's tornado is up to 162 after Jasper County's coroner added two more people to the list.

The Joplin Globe reports coroner Rob Chappel added 91-year-old Dorothy Johnston and 68-year-old Ronnie Holloway, both of Joplin, to the list on Wednesday.

Johnston died Sunday at a Carthage nursing home where she was suffering from a brain injury sustained in the storm.

Senate passes scaled-back Aerotropolis; tax relief for Joplin businesses delayed

The state Senate is unlikely to take up a measure that would provide relief to businesses destroyed by natural disasters, like the Home Depot in Joplin, Mo.

Updated 5:32 p.m. with reaction from the Mo. House Speaker

A measure that sharply reduces the amount of tax credits available to support the creation of an international cargo hub at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport is in the hands of the Missouri House.

The State Senate approved the measure this morning.
