Ex-policeman gets life in prison for abusing boys

The former top police officer in Fredericktown, Mo. has been sentenced to multiple life terms for molesting two young brothers over several years.

Judge Ted House on Friday told Kenneth D. Tomlinson II "you're every parent's nightmare."

Tomlinson pleaded guilty in November to 22 counts related to sexual abuse.

The boys were ages 11 and 13 when the abuse began. Tomlinson was the Scout master of a Boy Scout troop the boys joined.

Freshmen Mo. lawmakers continue fundraising

Missouri's newest members of the U.S. House have continued raising money.

Federal campaign finance reports show Republican Billy Long of Springfield raised roughly $15,000 from Nov. 23 to Dec. 31, 2010. Long reported starting 2011 with $29,000 in his campaign bank account.

Bill would boost Mo. penalties for human trafficking

A state representative has announced plans to introduce a bill to increase penalties for human trafficking convictions in Missouri.

Democratic Rep. Jason Kander said the measure he plans to introduce this week would boost Missouri penalties for human trafficking to the same level as federal statutes. He said federal penalties for human trafficking range from fines to five years and up to life in prison. Most Missouri human trafficking penalties go up to 15 years in prison.
