St. Louis –

Homes and businesses along the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers sustained unprecedented damage 10 years ago when floodwaters crept ever higher and pushed levees beyond their limits. Away from cities and towns though, fields of grain were the primary casualties.

1993 was one of the worst years in living memory for Midwestern farmers. But even though they experienced major headaches that year, most cleaned up and got back to work.

KWMU's Matt Sepic prepared this report as part of our series 10 Years Later: The Great Flood of '93.
