ST. LOUIS –
Two Missouri women who claimed they killed their husbands after years of abuse will get out of prison next month.
The Missouri Board of Probation and Parole on Monday granted parole for 65-year-old Carlene Borden and 55-year-old Vicky Williams. Both will be released Oct. 15. A third woman making the same claim, 57-year-old Ruby Jamerson, was also granted parole, but won't be released until 2013.
Borden and Williams have both been in prison for nearly 32 years. Jamerson has served about 22 years.
A 2007 Missouri law allows parole for battered women convicted of murder and sentenced to lengthy prison terms - life without the possibility of parole for 50 years or longer. To be eligible for parole, those women must have served at least 15 years and met other criteria.
