St. Louis, Mo. – The Poplar Street Bridge Ramp construction project continues Monday with the closure of the ramp from the bridge to westbound I-70.
The ramp is expected to close at noon, and should be closed for about two weeks.
The first ramp in the project reopened early, only a week after it closed. The Missouri Department of Transportation's Deanna Venker says there is no guarantee this ramp will be so easy.
"Well, we ran into good subpavement that was underneath the surface, we didn't run into any problems with the bridgework, materials came in on time, and the weather held out, so a lot of those factors put together ends up for a quick construction time," Venker said.
MoDOT recommends commuters use alternate forms of transportation and avoid the bridge if possible. The ramp is the second of four to be rebuilt in the project. All work should be complete by October.
