AB pulls college-colored beer cans

By Associated Press

St. Louis, MO – Anheuser-Busch InBev is dropping a promotion that dressed cans of Bud Light in college colors from communities where schools have complained the effort promotes underage drinking and infringes on trademarks.

Schools like Boston College and University of Wisconsin are among the objectors to the program.

The Federal Trade Commission's Janet Evans says the agency has discussed the issue with the brewer because it is concerned that cans will be marketed to fans under the legal drinking age. Industry standards require at least 70 percent of an advertisement's audience to be above 21, and Evans says that's not the case on campuses.

It's unclear how many communities are seeing the program dropped.
