St. Louis, MO – As affirmative action supporters rallied at the US Supreme court Tuesday their counterparts in St. Louis staged a small rally downtown.
The court heard arguments in a University of Michigan case involving the use of race as a factor in admissions.
Donayle Whitmore was among a handful of demonstrators. She says if the high court reverses affirmative action at the University of Michigan, it will affect minorities around the country.
"If we dismantle even a small piece of what affirmative action is about, it
gives them the opportunity to dismantle other parts of affirmative action, so we shouldn't allow that," Whitmore said.
The court is likely to make a decision by July.
