Alfalfa sprouts recalled in Missouri, Illinois

By AP/KWMU

Washington – A produce company is recalling alfalfa sprouts that may be contaminated with salmonella.

The vegetables were sold at more than 400 Walmart stores in 15 states including Missouri and Illinois.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say the sprouts sickened 22 people in 10 states, as well as a baby in Oregon.

A Walmart spokeswoman says the company bought the sprouts from Caldwell Fresh Foods of Maywood, California.
