Forth Worth, TX – American Airlines says it will lay off 343
St. Louis-based flight attendants by the end of the month in a cost-saving move.
The layoffs by Fort Worth-based American are part of an agreement it reached last month with the union representing the
workers.
American announced in December that it would cut about 1,100 flight attendant jobs.
The carrier reached a one-time deal with the union to limit layoffs at 400 by allowing nearly 500 workers to take unpaid leave and letting others share jobs. Workers on leave retain their benefits.
Employees had until Tuesday to ask for leave or job-sharing.
