American Red Cross Promotes Readiness

By Matt Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Red Cross officials rolled out a new disaster preparedness campaign today.
Among other things it encourages people to make a home emergency plan and put together a kit containing food and basic supplies. Joe White, who heads the St. Louis area Red Cross, says it's an important step to take given today's climate, "The Together We Prepare campaign offers individuals families, and
communities peace of mind by providing proactive steps we can take to
prepare for any kind of disaster from floods and tornadoes to floods and
terrorist attacks." Officials are also urging people to take Red Cross lifesaving courses, volunteer, and give blood. The organization says blood supplies in Missouri and Illinois are extremely low.
