Analysis Of Gov. Nixon’s State Of The State, Upcoming Legislative Session

Governor Jay Nixon, on Monday night, delivered the first State of the State Address of his second term.

He discussed a broad range of topics which included education, Medicaid, mental health and domestic violence.  An in-depth breakdown of his speech as well as reaction from House Speaker Tim Jones is available here.

Host Don Marsh talked with Terry Jones, Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science at the University of Missouri – St. Louis, and Jo Mannies, political reporter for the St. Louis Beacon, about Nixon’s speech and the upcoming Missouri legislative session.

He has published three books: his most recent, “Coming of Age, Liver Spots and All: A Humorous Look at the Wonders of Getting Old,” “Flash Frames: Journey of a Journeyman Journalist” and “How to be Rude (Politely).” He holds an honorary Doctor of Arts and Letters degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
