Sullivan, MO – Election officials in Crawford County, Mo. are saying a mistake denied some voters the option of voting for a fire district-funding proposition.
The Sullivan Fire Protection District covers about 10,000 people in Washington, Franklin and Crawford counties.
Proposition F would have raised taxes to pay for additional full-time firefighters, new equipment and fire station improvements. It failed by 181 votes.
But some polling places sent voters to the voting machines with the wrong ballots - ballots that did not include the proposition.
The fire district can appeal the election results and possibly force a new vote.
