Springfield, Ill. – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich Monday signed legislation into law that will give movie makers tax credits to make their films in Illinois.
The credit would give producers a 25% tax break for hiring Illinoisans to work on the shoots.
Supporters say it should help Illinois recapture productions that are now heading to Canada and other places with large tax breaks and cheaper costs.
But critics say it's unfair to give Hollywood a tax break while the state is eliminating breaks for other businesses to balance the budget.
