Blagojevich Will Change Ethics Bill

Springfield, ILL – Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich says he'll use special veto powers to change ethics legislation.

Blagojevich wants to create an inspector general position and an ethics commission. He also wants to ban state officials from participating in public service announcements and create an ethics hot line for state employees.

The governor says the measure lawmakers passed was a good start but not tough enough.

Amendatory vetoes allow governors in Illinois to add language to legislation, which must then be approved by lawmakers.
