Springfield, Ill. – Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich says he won't take a pay cut as part of his effort to cut government spending.

The Democratic governor is looking for ways to fill a budget deficit of nearly $5 billion dollars. He has frozen state hiring and may have to lay off employees.

But Blagojevich says cutting his own salary would be "gimmicky." He also notes that he has a second baby due next month and must begin saving for college.

As Governor, Blagojevich makes about $150,000 a year.
