St. Louis, MO – Missouri Governor Matt Blunt is asking the Federal Trade Commission to review the proposed sale of Anheuser-Busch to Belgian brewer InBev.
Blunt sent a letter to the federal commission Monday asking for the review. Lt. Governor Peter Kinder says he concerned the sale could damage the St. Louis and Missouri economies.
"I don't talk to many people anywhere in Missouri who wants to see Anheuser-Busch sold to a Belgian company that most of us have never heard of and see headquarters jobs leech out of the beautiful city of St. Louis and see a lot of aggressive cost-cutting that would hurt all of the distributors in every county across the state," he said.
InBev made an offer this month to buy Anheuser-Busch for roughly $46 billion. Anheuser-Busch's board of directors has not said if it would support the deal.
