St. Louis, MO –

There is a war raging in America's classroom, a battle betwen progressives and traditionalists over how students are being taught.

Supporters of progressive education, multiple intelligences theory and heterogeneous grouping come under attack in a new book by University of Missouri- St. Louis professor Martin Rochester.

KWMU's Bill Raack spoke with Rochester about his contention that the K-12 system on the fundamental elements of traditional schooling.

(The book is titled Class Warfare: Besieged Schools, Bewildered Parents, Betrayed Kids and the Attack on Excellence.)
