St. Louis, MO – A 45-year-old North St. Louis County man has pleaded guilty to 12 St. Louis-area bank robberies over 10 months in 2007 and 2008.

Donald Giammanco of Florissant was dubbed the "Boonie Hat Bandit" for the disguise he wore during some of the robberies. He took a total of about $100,000 from 11 different banks - he struck a Bank of America in St. Peters twice.

Giammanco told police when he was captured that he'd robbed the banks to pay for his daughter's private school tuition, and other family expenses.

He faces up to 20 years in prison or a $250,000 fine for each of the 12 counts. Giammanco will be sentenced August 13th.
