Springfield, Ill. – Illinois lawmakers sent legislation to the governor Monday that would let President Bush be on the November ballot.
State law requires the ballots to be finished 67 days before the election.
But Republicans are holding their convention unusually late this year. Bush won't be officially nominated until 61 days before the election.
Democrats and Republicans have been wrangling for weeks over whether to let Bush appear on ballots this fall. But the House agreed to the idea Monday on a 108-0 vote. It had already passed the Senate, so the measure now goes to the governor.
