WICKED is about the untold story of the witches of Oz.
The musical is based on the 1995 novel written by Gregory Maguire, WICKED: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. While many people know the 1939 film, The Wizard of Oz, both stories take place in a world based on L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful World of Oz, written in 1900.
One of the major themes in WICKED is acceptance and the idea that people should not be judged on first impressions. That’s one of the main reasons behind an ongoing series of performances featuring the national touring company to support charitable causes.
A WiCKED WONDERLAND benefit is Monday, December 17, 2012, at The Sheldon Concert Hall. General admission is a $50 donation and gives cast members the opportunity to step out of their roles and perform some of their favorite non-Ozian and, in this case, holiday material.
Host Steve Potter talked with WICKED cast member Lauren Haughton, a swing and understudy for Nessarose, and Kristen Goodman, the marketing director for STAGES ST. LOUIS.
