Kansas City, Mo. – Opening arguments began today in Kansas City in the lawsuit brought by the family of the late Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan against an airplane parts manufacturer.

Carnahan family attorney Gary Robb blames Parker Hannafin Corporation for the October 2000 crash that killed the Governor, his son and a campaign aid.

Robb says he has evidence that proves Parker Hannafin knew its vacuum pumps were faulty but didn't do anything to fix them. But Parker Hannafin spokesman Jim Cartwright says his company stands buy its products.

The Carnahans are seeking unspecified damages in the case.
