St. Louis, MO – Missouri Congressman William Lacy Clay says he supports legislation to reinstate the draft if the U.S. goes to war with Iraq.
Clay says he agrees with the proposal's sponsor, New York Congressman Charles Rangel, who says lawmakers wouldn't move so fast to war if their children were in harm's way.
Clay says blacks and poorer Americans bear an unfair burden in fighting wars for the U.S. Missouri's other members of Congress are opposed to a draft.
