St. Louis, MO – The U.S. House Wednesday sent legislation to President Bush that would rename the federal building in Carbondale, Ill. after Paul Simon. (The U.S. Senate had already passed the measure)

President Bush is expected to sign the measure.

The former U.S. Senator from Illinois died in December after having heart surgery in Springfield. Carbondale is where Simon started a think tank after leaving the U.S. Senate. It's called the Public Policy Institute and is located on the campus of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.

Simon also lectured at SIUC. He lived in nearby Makanda, Ill.
