Coroner ID's Missing Troy Man

By AP/KWMU

Troy, Ill. – The Madison County Coroner's office Monday positively identified human remains as those of Robert Konkel, who's been missing since Halloween.

A farmer found the remains near a pond, not far from where Konkel's truck was found. Dental records were used to make the identification. Illinois State Police are investigating the death.

The 45-year old Konkel was last seen leaving the restaurant he managed near St. Louis during the early morning hours of October 31st. His abandoned truck was later found on the side of I-255.

A farmer found his remains Saturday while cutting weeds about a mile from where the truck was found.

The positive identification will help Konkel's wife obtain Social Security benefits. Pam Konkel was granted a divorce in March so she could sell the couple's home.
