St. Louis, MO –

Voters in St. Louis County will pick nominees next month to run for County Executive.

It's an election that wasn't supposed to happen. Former Executive Buzz Westfall won a four year term just two years ago. But his death last year forced this campaign.

The executive oversees the largest political jurisdiction in Missouri.

But the race isn't exactly the talk of the town.

KWMU's Tom Weber prepared this report.

Candidates for St. Louis County Executive

Democrat

Charlotte Meshell
Carl Johnson
Charlie Dooley (current County Executive)
John Basil Moldovan
Thomas Patrick Van Berkel
David J. Lee

Republican

Kurt Odenwald (current County Councilman)
Edward L. Golterman (no longer actively running)
Dennis Hancock (current Mayor of Fenton)
Gene McNary (Former County Executive)

Libertarian

Theo. Ted Brown Sr.
