St. Louis, Mo. –

Genetic researchers in St. Louis are at the forefront of what proves to be one of the greatest scientific achievements of the 21st century.

Washington University scientists are part of an international team that has just finished work on a complete genetic road map revealing the sequence of more than three billion parts of DNA coding.

Armed with this tool, scientists can now zero in on diagnosing and treating a host of diseases.

KWMU's Kevin Lavery spoke with Dr. Richard Wilson, the director of Washington University's Genome Sequencing Center, about their key role in the Human Genome Project.
