Crystal City, Mo. – The Crystal City School Board last night unanimously voted to fire a teacher for telling her students interracial couples should not have children.
The teacher, Jendra Loeffelman, has worked in the district for 13 years. Her lawyer says he hopes Loeffelman will appeal.
In public hearings this month, questions focused on exactly what Loeffelman said. Both sides of the debate agreed she said she opposed marriage between people of different races and suggested such couples should not have children.
The 52-year-old teacher from Bonne Terre had tenure at the district.
