St. Louis – Federal investigators looking into a parking garage bombing in Clayton last year searched the home of a one-time Democratic Party operative.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the FBI searched a downtown loft belonging to Skip Ohlsen III about two months after the October bombing.

Attorney John Gillis was injured in the blast. But the newspaper reports the bomb was likely intended for another lawyer who represented Ohlsen's ex-wife in their divorce.

Ohlsen has not been charged in the bombing. But he did plead guilty to unrelated federal firearms and mortgage fraud charges in May and is awaiting sentencing.

In 2004, Ohlsen worked on the failed Congressional bid of Jeff Smith, who was later elected state senator.

The Federal Election Commission has said Ohlsen was responsible for anonymous fliers critical of Russ Carnahan, the eventual winner.
