Carlinville, Ill. – The wife of the late state Senator Vince Demuzio may take over his job.

Demuzio died last week at his home in Carlinville from colon cancer.

Morgan County Democratic Committee chairman Bill Gross says he and ten other Democratic county chairmen in the 49th district will meet Wednesday night in Carlinville.

They will vote to appoint someone to fill Demuzio's office and chose someone to appear on the November ballot.

Demuzio's wife, Deanna Demuzio, is the only name Gross says he has heard mentioned so far to fill Demuzio's position.

In Demuzio's home county, the Macoupin County Democratic committee chairman Mike Mathis says Deanna is familiar with her late husband's projects and would be strong voice for downstate Illinois.
