Voters in Iowa won't go to the polls to pick presidential nominees until next January, but the race for the White House in 2004 is already well underway.
Missouri Congressman Dick Gephardt is among six Democrats vying for the party nomination. He's visited Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina in recent weeks because those states hold the earliest primaries.
Tom Beaumont, a political writer for the Des Moines Register in Iowa, recently spoke with KWMU's Tom Weber. Beaumont says Gephardt's run for President in 1988 will likely give his Iowa campaign a boost.
