Discussing a different approach to treating addiction using cognitive behavioral therapy

On Thursday’s St. Louis on the Air, host Don Marsh was joined by Arthur Shenker, a facilitator with SMART Recovery, to discuss the program’s approach to treating addiction. Dr. Joseph Gerstein, M.D., the founder and president of SMART Recovery, also joined the program.

SMART Recovery is a non-12 step cognitive behavioral therapy used to treat people with drug, substance, alcohol and myriad other types of addiction. The approach has been around since 1994.
