St. Louis, MO –

Prosecutors in Jefferson County filed criminal charges against the owners of a dog kennel in Fenton Friday morning.

Karen and Francis Wilson now face six counts of animal abuse. State agriculture and Missouri Humane Society officials raided the Guys-N-Dolls kennel last month, citing the poor conditions in which the dogs were living.

An episode like the Fenton raid rekindles concerns from animal rights groups over how to regulate the raising of dogs in a commercial setting. And as KWMU's Tom Weber reports, the debate is especially fierce in Missouri.
