East St. Louis Votes

East St. Louis, Ill. – Voters in East St. Louis, Ill. are going to the polls today to decide which of the five candidates for mayor will face off in the April election.

Incumbent mayor Debra Powell is running for a second term as a write-in candidate. The city's election board ruled her ineligible for the vote because of incorrect election paperwork and kicked her off the ballot.

The four other candidates are former mayor Carl Officer; former city councilman Eddie Jackson; as well as Hermon Betts and Will McGaughy.
