East St. Louis, IL – East St. Louis Mayor Debra Powell's bid for re-election has hit a major roadblock.
The city's election board yesterday removed Powell from the February 25th primary ballot yesterday.
The reason for the removal was a technicality. Powell filed an economic impact statement with the election board, but did not file it with the St. Clair County Clerk, as required by law.
The board also took three candidates for City Council off the ballot for the same reason.
Powell's options include appealing the decision or running as a write-in candidate.
