St. Louis, MO – A former St. Louis corrections officer has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for attempting to distribute heroin to inmates of the city jail.
Peggy Lynn O'Neal pleaded guilty in March to two felony counts of attempted distribution of heroin. She was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court.
O'Neal was among three corrections officers charged in the case. Marilyn Brown pleaded guilty in March and awaits sentencing later this month. James Lamont Moore is serving a two-year term after pleading guilty last year.
Authorities say that O'Neal received what she thought was heroin, along with cash payments, and delivered it to an inmate. It turned out the purported drug came from an undercover police officer.
