Family of Former City Manager Wants Probe of his Death

East St. Louis, IL – East St. Louis City Manager Harvey Henderson has been dead since August, but his family says they still don't know how he died.

His body was found under the Poplar Street Bridge with twice the legal limit of alcohol. The Illinois State Police called the death an accident. But Henderson's cousin, Annie Thompson, believes he was murdered. She wants the FBI and US Attorney to get involved.

Thompson says police didn't secure Henderson's office, which may have contained papers indicating who might have been after him.

A cororner's jury in October refused to accept the State Police's conclusion, so the case is still open.
