St. Louis – A father whose car went into a river last week has died from the crash that had already claimed the life of his 7-month-old son.
A spokesperson for Barnes-Jewish Hospital said Kevin Payne, 24, died Saturday night. His vehicle went into the River Des Peres Wednesday afternoon.
Rescuers were able to get Payne out, but they did not know 7-month-old Trenton Payne was also in the vehicle until it was too late.
Investigators are trying to determine what happened.
A funeral for the father and son will be Wednesday morning.
