Feds will help with storm damage costs to parks

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – Federal relief will help St. Louis pay for damage to public buildings and parks following devastating summer storms.

President George Bush today approved Governor Matt Blunt's request for a disaster declaration.

A spokeswoman for Senator Kit Bond says that means the federal government will pay for up to 75 percent of repairs to disaster-damaged facilities owned by the public.

Shana Marchio says it's too soon to say how much money the declaration involves, because the city still needs to submit a tally to the federal government.

The storms hit July 19th and July 21st, causing more than 600,000 homes and businesses to lose power and widespread damage.
