St. Louis – A Missouri Air National Guard fighter jet skids off the end of a Lambert Airport runway Monday afternoon in St. Louis and comes within a short distance of a corporate plane.
No injuries resulted from the incident involving the F-15.
Officials say the fighter jet was wrapping up a training flight when it could not stop during landing. It eventually went across another runway, where a corporate jet was taxiing.
The fighter jet eventually came to a stop off the runway, damaging its front nose gear.
The Air National Guard says it has had the single-seat F-15 since the early 1990s, and that they didn't get it new. But the Guard says it has been reliable, even during a training flight earlier Monday.
The FAA and the military are investigating.
