Fitzgerald NOT on Plane Afterall

By AP/KWMU

Washington, D.C. – A spokeswoman for Illinois Senator Peter Fitzgerald says he was not on a plane carrying Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott that made an unscheduled landing in
Alabama yesterday.

Fitzgerald had planned to accompany Lott to a campaign event in Missouri, but his office says he changed his plans.

Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum also had planned to fly with Lott but changed
his schedule.

Earlier, Republican National Committee Co-Chairwoman Ann Wagner said Fitzgerald and Santorum had been on the plane.

A police report at the airport in Mobile, Alabama indicated that a Challenger 600 plane landed safely after reporting its landing gear was stuck.
